Welcome Parents!! My name is Mr. Linderman and I will be your child's math teacher for the 2019-20 school year. I look forward to a successful and fun year.
For parents who don't me, I joined the Sharon Hill School staff midway through the 2018-19 school year. I'm looking forward to hitting the ground running this year right from the start of the year. Prior to joining the Sharon Hill team, I taught 7th and 8th grade math for several years at Widener Partnership Charter School in Chester, PA. In the past I've also taught middle school math at Mastery Charter Schools in Philadelphia, Penn Wood Middle School in the William Penn School District, and at Penns Grove Middle School in Penns Grove, New Jersey. I am a mid-life career change, having run my own contracting company for nearly 15 years before completing my teacher certification courses at West Chester University. My hands-on experience as a business owner and a construction professional give me a unique perspective on how math is used in the real world, a perspective I look forward to sharing with your children.
This site is designed as a one-stop resource for everything we do in class. Parents and students will find links to the online resources, access to worksheets and homework, my personal contact info, and an overview of what we are doing in math class.
Your child's grades will be calculated to include homework assignments, classwork assignments, class participation, quizzes, and tests. Grades entered in the online gradebook will be accessible to parents and students through the PowerSchool platform. Please contact the front office if you are in need of assistance in accessing the PowerSchool Portal.
Students have math class every school day. My expectation is that they come to class prepared and ready to learn every day. This means they come with a pencil, notebook, and completed assignments every day. Homework will be assigned daily except for over the weekend. If a student is having difficulty completing the homework, it is my expectation that they will complete what they can to their best of their ability. Students will get credit for homework if it is apparent they show effort. If a student is having difficulty at home with assignments, they can always refer to their class notes and my website for assistance. I will also be available to assist outside of class time as necessary. Behavior, participation, effort, and discussion are crucial to their learning. Children can truly learn only when they are active in the learning process.
I am a true believer that the most effective education takes place when all parties -- students, teachers, and parents -- have open lines of communication. My contact information is listed on the home page of this website. Please be sure to sign up for the Remind text alerts regarding reminders and updates on what we are doing in class. If at any point you have questions or concerns regarding your child's math progress, please feel free to contact me. My preferred communication method is email, but I am always open for phone conversations if you would rather talk.
I look forward to working with you this year and watching your children grow and succeed!
Yours in learning -- Mr. Linderman
